I have a 1995 eagle talon esi auto. The car will never start until i put just a tiny minuscule bit of starter fluid in it and it just runs like a champ. This happens every time i start the car with no fail. Even if i just turn it off for one second the car will never start again until i do the starter fluid again. Like i said though it runs like a champ afterwards, no problems with driving ability, just starting.

This car will just crank and crank and crank with no kick no nothing its just cranking, and yes i checked the spark on all 4 and it is definately sparking proud.

weird things i noticed, the car every once in awhile, will act like a car alarm is going off with no sound...
Should I think my alarm system is hooked up to the fuel system?

Sounds like you have an issue with your fuel pump priming before starting. When you turn the ignition on, do you hear the fuel pump run for 3-5 seconds before you start it? If not, that's probably your issue.

The fuel pump doesn't turn on till the ecu reads that the engine is cranking.

Assuming you fuel system is stock, check the vac line to the FPR located on the fuel rail.

Disconnect the fuel line, and put it into a cup, glass, pickle jar, whatever.
Crank the engine to see if fuel squirts out, you may wanna grab a friend to help you.

If it comes out ok, then the pump isn't the issue.

It may be an issue where the Fuel pressure is bleeding off while the car is sitting, this could be why the car starts working correctly, once there is manifold vac. pressure.

I agree that is is possibly the FPR, but go the simplest route, and check for vac leaks, and fuel delivery first.

I basically had the same problem until I replaced the ECU .... settled down after that..but I think the check valve in the FP is weak for I have to crank a bit til it catches and I know that the fuel line has no pressure when it sits a while.

Unlike the 2g turbo DSM (and all 1g's), on the 2g NT (Chrysler engine) the fuel pump actually runs while the key is in On or Start positions.

I agree it sounds like the fuel pressure is bleeding off. If so, it could be either a bad FPR or FP check valve as DSM1g90 points out.

It's either something in your fuel system or ignition switch. Could also be your starter. Have you had your starter and ignition switch tested?

wierd i dont think it could be fpr because not matter what i do the car wont start when in cranking the car runs awesome then i turn it off for literally 1 second and the car will never start.

It still could be due to it losing pressure when off. But you should at least replace the vacuum line running from it to your intake. If it is cracked, leaking, you will have a problem getting the right pressure to starting due to the lack of vacuum. Might just be a $2.00 fix. :thumb:
