Hi, my car started doing this yesterday. When I would take the car out of gear the rpm's would drop and the car would stall. The only way to keep it alive was to keep the rpms up when at a stop. Today when I took the car out it seemed to be fine. I drove it around and the idle was perfect. Then later today, I was parked and the car was idling, and when I backed up and went to put it in first gear, the car died. And then it wouldnt start. It would crank over, but it would just stall. I finally got it to start, and had to keep on the throttle to keep it from stalling, and just pulled it back into the parking space. After about 10 minutes of letting it sit, the car fired back up, and ran perfect, but now the check engine light is on. It ran fine for about 10 more minutes, then went back to stalling when not in gear, and had trouble starting.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks,

Vance

I am guessing the car is still stock and this just started doing this ramdomly. I would take the car to auto zone and get them to pull that CEL code if it is still on see what it says. I had a simmlar problem with mine it turned out that my FPR was going bad.

Yes FPR stands for Fuel Pressure Regulator the FPR is located at the end of the fuel rail closest to the driver side door

the pic what a fuel rail looks like it will look KINDA like a cyclinder on the end. I stress KINDA it will have 2 hoses comming out of it one vac line and one fuel return line.

Hi,

Thanks for all of the responses. I have found that when I unplug my ISC my car idles a little low, but it doesnt stall. I ran it for a day like this and it didnt stall once. Today I plugged it back in, and the first time I came to a stop it stalled. Would this suggest that my ISC is bad?

Thanks,

Vance

Find a DSM friend with a good ISC, swap it to make sure.

I have the EXACT same problem...I took my car to a mitsu dealership and they told me it was my AIC motor...which turns out is the ISC motor.

Someone else on this forum suggested a few websites including www.crebotech.com, but I'm gonna look around the junkyards for something. Lemme know if you have anymore info!

Hi, I just got back from Autozone and they pulled a code of P0100. It means Mas Circuit Airflow Malfunction or Volume Air Flow circuit. Has anyone delt with this kind of error?

thanks,

Vance

Are you venting? Make sure the plug to the mas didn't pop out. Find another mas, plug it in and see. also check the intake to turbo connection.

Nope, not venting. I have a 1g BOV. I was just out checking the plug to the MAS and it was connected. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it did nothing. Ill check the MAS to turbo tomorrow. One thing that did change from fiddling with the plug is I can now start the car and let it idle. It does idle really low, it bounces up and down around 200 rpm, and then eventually kicks up to about 700 where it should be, then idles fine. But as soon as I put it in gear and move a little bit, when I put the clutch in it dies. All I have to do is let the clutch out halfway and move a bit, and push it back in and it will stall.

Im going to pull the ECU out tomorrow and check that as well. Eventually ill figure this thing out i guess.

Thanks,

Vance

That's exactly what my car was doing when my intake coupler poped out of the turbo inlet. Move the intake around a little while the car idles, if rpm changes as you do this, I'm almost certain you have a leak between mas and turbo provided that you've already done a boost leak test. Of course it can also be the ecu at the end, at least you're getting closer. Good luck.

Hi, well, I checked my ECU today and that was fine. I also did some leak tests and all of them are ok as well. Im running out of things to look for. Tomorrow i am going to get an ohm meter to check my ISC, and I am going to see if I can find a new MAF. Is there anyway to test the MAF without getting a new one? Strange thing happended today though, I was fiddling with some things, and I unplugged the ISC and started the car up and it ran fine. I took it out and it drove awsome. I stopped the engine, started back up and all was cool. I then plugged the ISC back in, and it wouldnt idle at all. So i unplugged it and it still wont idle right again. I guess i shouldnt have plugged it back in. o well, i guess ill figure this problem out eventually.

vh083 did you ever find what was wrong with your car mine is doing the same thing and im getting the p0100 code and put in a new mass air flow sensor
