I have a 93 eagle talon dl 1.8l. When i start the car it takes me atleast 3 or more times to start. When it turn over it shoots up to 3000 rpms then if it doesn't die it idles rough at 500 rpms. I have checked the tps, changed the fuel filter, changed spark plugs and coils, change the air filter cleaned the throttle body, checked all the hoses. When i press on the accelerator the rpms increase to 1500 rpms then drops down to 1000 then back up in a matter of seconds with the accelerator still being pressed to the floor it sounds like there is some back fire on the exhaust. When i tried starting it this last time i heard a clicking coming from the fuel pump relay everytime i started the car but has not done it before till now. I dont know what to do at this point so any help will be more than appreciated.

i had a Problem Sort of like this, if it isnt Throwing a Code Hopfully it will soon. Check your Camshaft Sensor, its Bolted to the Left of your Engine, Easy to find.

or your Fuel Regulator.
There are Plenty of Possibilities, Check for Vacuum Leaks as the Guy above me Quoted, or your Sensors

A can of "mass aif flow sensor cleaner" (yes that's acually what its called and is specifically made to clean these) make sure the air flow meter is clean and functional. Do you have a scan tool or a data logger? It'd be nice to see how many grams of air per second the air flow meter is seeing

I was reading a something about how to tell if you have a bad tps. It sounded like the all the problems i am having is what was mentioned. I tested the tps as directed by my service manual but i may have missed something i might go buy a new sensor and see if that doesn't fix. Ill also check for leaks and get some of that cleaner you mentioned. The auto parts store around might not have the part so ill have to get it ordered but once i test it ill check back on in and let you all now. Thanks for all the good advice.

idle control module and cam/crank sensors check all of those

Follow the rules please. Made up uneducated advice is worse than no advice at all.

If you knew what your talkin about, you'd know that vehicle has no crank sensor. Also its called a idle air control (IAC)

Which it could be a IAC goin bad, please explain why you would have this guy inspect his "crank sensor"?

If he doesnt have a mechanical problem like vacuum leak, than it would be an electrical issue. And a cylinder position sensor wouldnt cause his symptoms. Its more than likely he has his BIS scew (base idle set) screw turned out to far, the ecu does funky stuff.

His up and down reving, I would one, verify no vacuum leaks, two, clean my mass air flow sensor with the correct cleaner and reinstall and double check the wiring to it, three, id bust out the timing light and verify it has the correct idle ignition timing (maybe a bi*** to do with the idle being jumpy but should be able to get a good idea where your at) four, bust out the scan tool or data logger and look what value the idle speed control is and that the TPS (throttle position sensor) is working correctly 1-5V.

Point is, dont make a guy lookin for help chase his tail lookin for a crank sensor that his car doesnt even have:ohdamn:

Quick update was messing around with it yesterday and what i did was unplug the idle speed control connector it idle at 3000 rpms but was now able to accelerate then i unplugged the mass air flow sensor while th isc still unplugged and it seemed to run normal before i had any of these problems. So im guessing its one of the two or somewhere in between
