Car goes into a "safty" mode or sputters

I have a 97 GS-T with 102K miles on it. My car ran perfectly fine until I started to mod it.. Anyways basically what the car does is at full throttle in 3rd gear or 4th gear the car either just sputters and doesn't go past 4500RPM or the car seems as if it wants to go and just all the dash lights come on however the car stays running.
The car currently has :
Short ram intake
1G BOV (recirculated)
MBC at ~14psi (NXS Brand)
3inch catback exhaust

My question is could it be a fuel cut off issue and the car is sputtering. I was under the impression the stock fuel pump was fine for 14psi.
The car still has the original fuel filter. Also could it be the type of gas I put in?

Only put in premium. If you have a 14b fuel cut is possible if you have a very clogged fuel filter, if you still have the T-25 I doubt it. I'd check for boost leaks and make sure your timing is correct.

Do you have a wideband or at least a EGT to let us know how your fuel is looking?

Also are you sure you aren't getting boost creep with a 3 inch exhaust and a intake? It is really possible you are creeping so much you are getting fuel cut. If you are going to run a larger intake/exhaust you should really consider porting your turbo.

Thanks for the quick replays. The MAF is plugged in and no CEL's appear. The car currently still has a T-25 but I have seen in a couple cases that it is boost creep, I do not have wideband or EGT. The car also just had plugs, wires, and oil changed as well as a new head gasket cover.
Could it be that I should try different plugs, maybe 7's and not 6's. I live in south texas where the heat is insane.

Fuel cut is caused by too much air thru the maf, it has nothing to do with the fuel filter, pump, injectors or any part of the fuel system for that matter.

You will know if you are actually hitting fuel cut, the car will pull hard than all the sudden it will just stop pulling all together like you shut the engine off, it can feel pretty violent sometimes if you are making decent power. If you are just sputtering than it is probably spark blowout, or the car cutting out from a rich condition caused by a boost leak. Do a boost leak test, and it never hurts to throw a new set of plugs in there. I'd go with the 7's.

I know exactly what causes fuel cut, I doubt he does at this point if he is questioning it. The easiest way for me to explain it to him was to just say that. It wasn't the greatest idea I know, but it was the easiest way I think I could describe what it's like to have a fuel filter choke out your fuel under boost.

I had the same thing happen when my filter was clogged.

But for added information, the odds of hitting fuel cut on a 2g MAF is fairly low, as it can read A LOT of air.
