I start my car up in the morning and let it run for about 2 minutes to warm it up and that usually does it but about 2 weeks ago after I warned it up the car starts to sputter and sound like its miss fireing but its not. it does this for a long time like 10 15 minutes of normal driving then when I step on it, it still does it then after it stops for a while I shut the car off and then 15 minutes later come back and start it up it does it again wtf??, I just replaced my fuel filter, I replaced my plugs and wires and I have no idea what else it could be, I have my stock turbo on and a manual boost controller, apexi downpipe etc.... please help thanks

Jon

-IF your problem start to happen as the needle of the boost gauge begine to show pressure, then you have air leak at vacumm hose(s) or intercooler pipe.

Phantom Knock perhaps? I would check into that. I know i had pretty much the symptoms you are describing and thats my problem, well was my problem.

well, I did some research and I found some people with phantom knock have a slow ass car, with my car it sputters under 3k @ 25% throttle but only when the car is cold then when it warms up it stops happening. When I step on it the car takes off like a rocket as if nothing happend. I need to fix this soon becasue I have all of my new stuff in the mail, damnit!!! :dsm:

oh yea I forgot I can hear the turbo spool up when this sputtering is going on but the exhaust sputters like d d d d d d d like a miss fire pretty much, could this have anything to do with my O2 sensor or injectors? Im currently running 15-17 psi on a 14b with stock fuel components

thats exactly what's been happening to my car. I think its the coolant temp sensor. I have one ordered and it should be here thursday. Ill let you know if it fixed it.

Oh BTW, check your oil, if it smells like fuel, its doing the same thing as mine.

well I had an oil leak so I fixed it and I forgot what kind of oil I put in, but about this coolant sensor how much was it and where do I get one...

I dunno actually, I just got platnum+ 4's and new plug wires should I check it? becasue it does sounds like a missfire

I'll bet 2 pay-pal dollars swapping in a set of BPR6ES plugs and gapping them to .30 will make a difference. Gap out of the box is a crapshoot with plugs.

about 20 bucks from oreilly's. OH, and dont ask for Eagle Talon TSi coolant temp sensor, its a mitsubishi eclipse gst Coolant temp sensor. For some reason, it was different, and I couldnt use the eagle one. Weird.

I dont think its my plug gap, its gotta be the coolant temp sensor becasue it stops when it gets warmed up, If I get one ill just go to the dealer, but you have a 7 bolt motor I presume I think im going to ask for the talon tsi one, but wouldnt you think they would be the same?

You aren't listening. Thos Platinum + garbage plugs are part of the issue to, I don't care if you gap tem to 1.21 gigawatts.

Check the primary and secondary resistances on your coils too. Then check your transistor pack.

Get rid of the platinums first, those are for slow cars (cars that don't boost).

the problem is becasue I dont have a fricken coolant sensor, straight up I just dont have one my water temp guage is pluged in there and its the car is proably runing like shit becaue of this... and yea ill change the plugs what should I get? ngk's?

Just TRY the NGKs, for 5 bucks a set you can't go wrong. Definitley get a coolant temp sensor.
