I was having an issue with my car not running properly with the boost solenoid connected. The computer kept resetting and the car wouldn't stay running. When I unhooked it, I thought the problem was fixed. However, when I'm driving the vehicle the check engine light will flash on and the computer will reset. Then it goes out. The car sometimes shuts down when it does this.

I checked to see if there were any error codes in the ecu. I noticed when the boost solenoid is connected it says no stored codes. This could be due to the ecu resetting constantly though. The hanes manual says if no codes are stored (constant 12 volt) to replace the ecu. When its unplugged I get the code that everything is ok(repeating code of 1).

My question is, does the car have to have the boost solenoid connected? Right now I just have a hose from the J-pipe to the actuator. I tested the solenoid with a battery and a compressor and it seems to work. Maybe a short in the wiring harness or the solenoid?

Also it seems to mess up when I accelerating or decelerating. When I stay a constant speed it doesn't. Maybe a fuel filter?

Any suggestions will help greatly.
 
You don't need to have the vacuum lines run in order to regulate boost pressure. But it must be kept connected to the electrical connector or you will throw a code. You can run a vacuum source straight to the wastegate actuator and run the wastegate spring pressure.
 
When the power is plugged into the boost solenoid the ecu keeps resetting and the engine misses. I guess that means I will need a new boost solenoid whether I use it or not.

I am taking the car into a garage tomorrow. They think it may be a fuel relay located near the ecu. They wont be for sure until they dig into it though.

There are differences between 2g's and 1g's and this is one of them. The 1G ECU doesn't check to see if the solenoids are connected.
 
50trimmed1g is correct, the BCS does not set a CEL on 1gs.

I stand by what I said. The 1G ECU doesn't check that the solenoids are connected like a 2G ECU does. There are functional checks for some but not electrical checks.
 
I yanked the ecu to find leaking caps. Its the two big ones in the group of 3. The acid has leaked on the board pretty bad. I bought a rebuilt ecu from advanced auto. Car is running amazing now.
