car does not idle right and stutters bad

I just bought a 93 Eclipse gs. The kid I bought it said the egr valve was bad thats why it didn't idle right so he turned the idle up. He said it worked for a little while but now every time you push in the clutch when coming to a stop it dies.Also when driving down the road it bogs down, revs up, bogs down, etc. It only does this sometimes. An egr valve cost $110 I and I don't want to buy one for no reason. It also grinds when shifting into 2nd gear, he said that it didn't do that before he turned the idle up. Can anyone help?

u can remove the egr from the car with a block off plate. your check engine light should not turn on! but do not quote me on that.. i removed my egr and blocked the vacuum ports with vacuum caps.. also u wanna check for leaks by the throttle body

i do know u have a non turbo

First you need to check the basics. The BISS, ISC, and FIAV, cleen them out, put new seals in and adjust them back to stock, and see if that helps first. Then check out your EGR, and block it off w/ a plate.

This sounds like a ISC, FIAV or TPS problem. Possibly a MAS, but less likely. Just as project_tsi said.

second gear syncros are going. Happens a bunch.

The idling problem sounds like alot of other 4g63 idling problems i have heard of before. When my car did the same the last thing i thought of was to check the spark plugs and wires. I put my buddies spark plug wires on my car and it ran beautifully. Those are some suggestions that is the last thing thought about.
