Car does not drive right

I have a 91 TSI AWD. i bought it from a co worker with a blown head gasket. i took the head to get resurfaced, but it was too warped to be surfaced. i bought a new head off of ebay. remanufactured, everything was good. rebuilt the turbo. I put everything back to gether, new timing belt, tensioner. i start it up, it starts ok. the boost gauge shows that it is in the negative 3 range at idle.My problem is when i go to drive the car, i put the pedal to the floor the car does not go, the boost is at about 12 and the car just does not pull at all. IS the cat clogged? what could be my problem

Do you have all your lines hooked up correctly?? Your idle should not be at -3 it should be -18 to -20.

Factory or aftermarket boost gauge?

i have a factory boost guage. im new to imports. i just want the car to get up and go. but its not. and most the time the boost gauge at idle is pretty far down in the negatives. Do you guys know why the car does not want to kick in?

I Have A New Head, Timing Belt, New To Dsm. I Start My Car For The First Time. It Starts Up Fine. I Go To Drive It And When I Push The Pedal Down I Have No Response Really. I Can Drive Fine As Soon As I Start The Car And Then Go In 1st. It Does Not Pull At All. When I Come To A Stop And Then Try And To Take Off It Does Not Do Anything. I Have To Hold The Pedal To The Floor And Eventually It Will Rev Up And I Will Be Able To Go. I Have No Power. I Need Some Serious Help.i Have No Clue Where To Start. I Replaced The Fuel Filter. Rebuilt Turbo Myself, Remanufactured Head. Could It Be The Head/not The Right Cams, Can The Cat Be Clogged, Bad Fuel Injectors, I Dont Know.

Did you make sure that all of the vacuum lines are connected and not leaking? Boost leak? Exhaust leak?

does the car idle correctly? ... idles fine but bogs as soon as you gas it? .. There are a whole slew of things that could be causing this, however, I would check for boost leaks first. I'd also check your plug wires and spark plugs. Also, you mentioned replacing the head gasket, have you done a compression test? These are some of the first things you can check

Oh, if your timing belt isnt set correctly, your engine would be doing all sorts of funny things too. (possibly/probably damaging itself in the process) Take the Timing belt cover off (if you have one) and see if the teeth are aligned correctly.

also check out www.vfaq.com and get some good info from there. Might want to do a leak down test also. Most likley a boost leak though.
