car dies when i come to a stop

Alright so I have a 90 tsi that I just picked up I replaced the fuel pump and now it needs a clutch and flywheel pretty badly. So I tried to take it for a cruise the other day and when I came to a stop or went into nuetral the car dies and the starter is having a hard time turnin it over battery is new please shoot me some ideas

how long has it been since the starters been replaced?, have u adjusted your idle control yet (turned it up?)? and i'm sure needing a clutch has a lot to do with it also. does it slip? is it hard to get in gear?

I just took the starter out and had it checked it was fine. It is hard to get in gear the throw out bearing is bad also. When I press the clutch I can hear a grinding noise and when I let off it goes away. When I do get it started it idles fine (800) but as soon as I move it this occurs.

i'm having the same problem on my n/t, but it started after my thermostat went out and started over heating i'm sure i blew my head gasket but now it doesn't overheat and whenever i take it for a quick drive it does the same thing. Hopefully someone has an answer?

my car used to die when i would come to a stop and push in the clutch. I had vacuum leaks. It sounds like you have some

Fast idle air valve may be bad, vacuum leaks, probably a couple other things I'm forgetting. Idle surge might happen too if you give it long enough. Common problems, search around for the various solutions. A quick workaround is to turn on your ...forgot if it's AC or heat... but turning it on as soon as you come to a stop will keep it from stalling.

If at all possible, don't drive the car with clutch disengagement issues. Fix those first if you have the resources to do so.

Edit: Idle air control/idle speed control motor is what I was forgetting. Probably more likely than your FIAV, for reasons stated in next post.

When I first start the car it idles fine it don't bog or anything like that. I was just wondering if my flywheel could the issue because it is hard to start and the starter is good its got good power but the flywheel made some grind marks on the starter

My starter is ground quite a bit... fairly irrelevant to your stalling problem though. Are you running a starter plate? If not, buy one and put it on when you replace the clutch. Causes all sorts of problems if it's not there.

So I also has a spare tire for about a week ans honestly it just started doing this after I put the normal tire on 205/55/16 could it be the the front trans axle is not lined up good? This is my first awd so I'm kinda fresh on this platform you can say

Alright so could marked as resolved it was a vac leak. Under the battery is two vac lines don't know ### they do but one was cut all the way through and after replacing it she runs fine thanx guys
