Hey guys! So I have a 97 GST that started randomly dying the past couple of days at random times. Sometimes I can drive it 3 times a day from cold or hot start but then within the middle of my trips she just shuts off with no warning.

- No CEL
- At times she'll start right back up again otherwise it's a crank no start
- Timing, temperatures, vacuum hoses, IAC, spark, and compression all check out
- I did notice that my negative battery terminals connections seem kind of chewed up broken in some areas and I will be replacing those tomorrow
- Crankshaft pos sensor is fine
The car is close to 200k original miles. Should I check fuel filter while I'm at it? It seems like this issue only happens when the car is at peak operating temp and just becomes a ticking time bomb so I never know when it's gonna happen. I took her back to the shop that did the HG on her a few months back and they couldn't find anything wrong. So I'd rather figure it out myself than throw money at them to fix it because it's not under the warranty of the work they did. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

On a 2G the battery connectors seem to crop up more than any other single cause. Good place to start.

Do you hear clicking noise..from the MFI / FUEL PUMP RELAYs ? Did you check them?
I heard a clicking noise once. The usual one when the relay sends when you put the car on the ON position. At one point, it clicked like 30 times in under 6 seconds. Hasn't happened again though. I will be replacing that part on Monday. Pretty sure that is the cause but I'll update with solution once I have it fixed.

What do you guys think about a bad power transistor? As of yesterday the car starts and runs but still dies mid drive when ever it feels like it. No loss of power or CEL still. Oh and that clicking think only happened once. Every other start and drive it never happened there after so I'm leaning towards something else electrical. Fuel pressure is fine as well. The reason why I bring up the power transistor is because I'm in Cali and its 71-80 through out the week and is very humid. I've read that heat/humidity can kill these transistors/ICM whatever they're referred to in the 2Gs.
