I was driving and all of the sudden my car just died. So i got it towed home(for free :D ) and checked some stuff. My MFI relay seems to be good. But i am getting no spark or power to the fuel pump. My MFI relay works when i manually hook it up to 12V, but it is not getting power while hooked up in the car(The relay functions properly but its not getting any power to it while in the car). I manually checked my fuel pump and it IS GOOD.

What could it be? ECU? Anything else?

Thanks,
ryan

ha that sounds just like my problem :p . right now I'm still trying to fix the problem, so far I've tried 2 ECUs 1 ISC and spark plugs/wires. I got an MPI relay and coil pack tomorrow so I'm pumped.

So anyways, my guess is the ECU. Take it out of the firewall and check for a sap/molases like substance on the board and and caps see if it smells funny. Good luck!

Okay thanks. Ill check that when i get home. :thumb:

Your fuel pump should still come on with a bad ECU. I suggest cleaning the terminals really well, I mean use a dremel or the like.

Okay, oldman was right. It was not the ECU.

Anyone have any other ideas.

Oldman, What terminals are you talking about?

I checked all of the fuses.

My stereo and all is getting power.

I wasnt thinking it was the ignition switch because i can hear the ecu click after i turn off the key so.... i thought it worked. I could be wrong though.

Whats the easiest way to tell?

To check if the ignition is feeding the ecu turn it to "on" position and see if the check engine light comes on and flashes a couple of time and goes off, if so the ecu is booting. Just to be clear, you do know for sure you have no spark and fuel right? My stock pump was pretty hard to hear.

I checked the spark in the two outside cylinders - Nothing

I checked the voltage going to my fuel pump. There in no voltage when the key is"on". But when i turn the key all the way(with the clutch in and the starter running) the fuel pump gets about 2(two) volts and barely runs at all.

So then i checked my fuel pump(mfi) relay, It works as far as i can tell. So then i checked to see if any voltage was being fed to the switch side of the relay....nothing.

Okay, now the fuel pump seems to be getting full voltage when the key is on "start" (when the starter is on) and the clutch is in.

I havent checked the spark again.

old man. My CEL just stays on when i turn the key. It doesnt flash then turn off or anything
