k so i got new clutch in, had problems with that over and over.... FINALLY got it fixed. had to adjust the clutch well and adjusted it it works amazing... Well after driving aloootttt i parked it. it was fine. drove more parked it again. came back out went to start it and nothing happened at all. all the lights came on but it didn't turn over. just changed the terminals then moved some wiring around it started i turned it off tried to start it again nothing happened. i can roll it and pop the clutch and it starts and runs fine. It did this once before and the guy that replaced my clutch left the ignition wire loose, my buddy moved it around and it worked fine up until just today again. Would it be the ignition wire again? and if so wheres it located exactly on 96 tsi awd talon

I would check and re check all battery terminals along with the ground wires. Also check out your starter wires and grounds along with the unit itself. All of which were removed during your clutch install. Even try jumping your car with someone else, if that works then it's obviously your wiring. Sometimes that works because with another car it provides better power/grounding.

yea possibly, unless your actual starter solenoid is bad. Does it click or anything?

BTW: what ignition wire where you talking about? the ignition switch?

One ground goes directly from the battery terminal to one of the starter bolts, check that one out. Also check your battery posts, I upgraded my stock ones when I was having the same problem. It could be a number of things but I am only guessing these simply because of the fact you just had your tranny out. Check your underhood fuses as well.

well idk exactly what wire my buddy just told me it was an ignition wire going to the starter. we wiggled it around maybe... 2 weeks ago which made it work up until today. but when i was messing with the battery terminals i tried to feel around for that wire he was talking about then hooked up the battery charger started it and it started. turn it off after a few seconds then went to turn it again and nothing again.. no clicking no nothing. the lights all come on.

O okay. there is a single small gauge wire that fits onto a terminal on the starter solenoid body. That wire is the signal from the switch to the solenoid to engage the started. You probably have a bad connection there. I would check for tightness of the connection and check to make sure it isn't burnt or anything. Maybe try some dielectric grease to make a better connection.

The solenoid is part of the starter assembly. It is the little cylinder on the big cylinder. It is where the wiring goes. There are two wires that come off of the positive battery terminal, one goes to the starter, and one to the fuse/relay box. Now I'm not 100% positive with 2g's but I know 1g's are like that. They also have 3 or 4 (depending on if you have ABS) fuses at the positive terminal of the battery. If you follow the wire going from the battery (+) to behind the engine, that will attach to the starter. There you will see s small wire (~ 14-16 Gauge) that connects to it. That is the ignition switch signal wire you were talking about.

The ignition wire is a Black wire w yellow stripe. It has to be unplugged when pulling the tranny this is the most likely culprit. Its located under the intake piping on the passenger side. Mine was corroded at the connection I had to cut it out and butt splice it. this fixed mine. Its about an 8-10au wire. (smaller than your pinky)

the only two wires that are black and yellow are coming from the neg battery terminal, one grounds out right by the battery the other one grounds to the motor. i couldn't find any wire like that under the intake

:Dk LOL didn't read that first post, and yeah followed the wire and it was in some VERY hard to reach spot LOL but i found it and now know what wire to fk with if it wont start THANKS SOO MUCH EVERYONE FOR THE HELP!!!

No problem dude. You might want to check that connection so you won't have to mess with it all the time. Good luck.

I cut that ### connector out its only there if your trying to pull the tranny w motor still in the car or pulling a motor completely. Mine was corroded inhalf almost. Id say this is one of the weak links in the path from the battery to the starter.
