have looked all through the forum and could not find my problem so i posted this. i can not go into ANY gear except reverse but that grinds like crazy. now some bolts were loose on the housing of the tranny so i tightened them up and then i thought i fixed it, but a few days ago i ran it kinda hard and noticed it was getting hard to put in gear so i go home the next day i can not get it into a gear. there is also a horrible rattle going on in there, not a grind but like something is bouncing around in there. so that day i was pushing the clutch up and down alot and hear a little click then it went into gear but when i had the clutch down there that noise was again like it was spinning and hitting stuff idk. i can shift when its off and if i try and start it in first gear it just jerks forward. SO obviously the clutch is not disengaging.

i know alot of information but i need to get to the bottom of this. my thought is bad release bearing???? PLEASE HELPPPPP WTF

Check the fork when you drop the transmission. you will notice if it's bent. Also your pressure plate with your act clutch isn't a bad one. But they said the TOB that comes with the act kit is crap. Lots of people have problems. Also now that I know you have a ACT clutch you should look at the clutch and make sure the springs are still attached to the disc. Tons of people had problems with those springs on the clutch popping off. It could be that honestly too. Your problem is inside the transmission when you take it off you will see where your problem is. But now it's either your tob or you clutch from ACT.

ok i will deff check that out. so its not my transmission thats bad right? ppl are telling me its my synchros but i really dont think it is.

if the oil in your transmission was black, then you might have other issues. But was there any metal in the fluid when you changed it? If so, then your syncros have prob been wearing more than normal. as for the TOB, if it is in bad enough shape to cause those problem, the noise should get louder when you press the clutch it, not quieter.

92eagle that's not true. Watch any video of a bad TOB and any time the clutch is pressed the sound either goes away gets quiet go to youtube to listen. I doubt it the syncros not saying its not but still. I doubt your tranny is bad especially if it hadn't had any symptoms before it randomly didn't go into gear. Drain your gear oil from the tranny check the color if you want but your problem is either that ACT Clutch or the TOB which it's probably the TOB. Check the springs on the ACT disk make sure they are all there too when you take off the tranny

i put new gear oil in it had no metal shavings or anything like that i just remember that horrible smell. actually come to think about it the color of it was grayish i think. ah i cant remember. and it does not make that noise anymore when i push it down that stopped now it just makes a noise when the clutch is not applied.

Slow down, and back up for a minute...

You said the tranny bolts backed out...you could have (and probably do) have more issues than just a "bad TOB" depending on how loose it got and how long you ran it.

I believe "Colt4G63 also" is the only other one to mention this, but think about how much angular and torsional stress you were putting on the entire drivetrain at that point. I would inspect everything very closely once the tranny is out, including checking the tranny's input shaft for excessive play, looseness in the shift forks, checking the clutch and pressure plate for warpage and heat scoring, etc.

You might have gotten lucky, but I wouldn't bet on it.

If the TOB is bad its just going to keep getting worse, your best bet is to do what DeadsEvolution said. Just replace the TOB, and the shift fork just in case, its not expensice so you might as well while the car is apart.

what you described at first sounded like a bad throw out bearing. get it apart and check it.
also as mentioned before. loose tranny bolts will make your clutch and flywheel start to warp.

Im gonna agree with "Colt4G63" and go with the springs in the clutch I had the same exact symptoms in my 3K vr4 and as time went by it got worse and couldnt shift anymore. I had the same sounds too
heres a photo:
if you look close towards the middle of the pressure plate you'll see a pretty little spring that slipped out of its holder and contacted the pressure plate

I said before it's the TOB or being that he had an ACT clutch it was the Spring that popped off. ACT clutches are known for that to happen. Either the TOB or the clutch spring popped out when he has those bolts come out.

Take the Transmission off that is the only way you will know for sure. But your problem is one of those things
