Can't find a quality short shifter! Please help.

I had a B&M shifter on my first spyder and it was awesome. Bought some cheap one before that and was severely disappointed. The B&M is a little pricey, but it's worth it.

Well i didn't know B&M shifters where no longer available for our cars. I found B&Ms contact page so I'll call them tomorrow during some down time to figure out if they'll still special order them.

Has there ever been a consensus on whether the ebay knockoff of the B&M is quality enough for use? I hear its just as good and I hear it's crap.

With some modification it has been said that it's almost as good as a B&M quality. There was a thread on it somewhere.

i had two of short shifters on my old 2g. both were from ebay and the first was crap. i only paid $30 for it and it showed. it needed modification to fit properly and when i finally did get it in, it ended up breaking a few months later. I then went back to ebay and ponied up a couple extra $$ for what appeared to be a more quality item. Again, it needed a little bit of modification to fit but gave a much smother shift and i had it for another two years before selling the car. I wish i still had links to the specific products stated but those have been lost in time.

Moral of the story: ebay shifters are not a perfect fit but if you spend a couple extra $$ to get the nicer ones on ebay, then you will be happier in the long run.

lucky for me someone had put a megan in my dsm before i bought it. i had to replace the bushings about a yr ago, but the shifter itself still works fine
