i went to the track today

the last day of the season. put 1200 miles on the motor with no problems so i figured the track would be good. I tuned the car at 17 pounds the logs were good. i had 93 oct. car was feeling good got to the track put the boost to 20 pounds with 93. The temp was 45 degrees. The car pulled so hard for half the track spinning awd off the line. Then in the top of third and into fourth it felt dogish. i ran a 13.2 at 101 mph. with a 1.8 60' spinning all 4 off the line. I was really hoping for 12's

550's, b16g, 190lph, stock fuel pressure, -18 across the high and 20 pounds of boost greddy 24r

heres the numbers for the timeslip

60'.....1.86
330'...5.448
1/8....8.4
mph...83.4
990...10.947
1/4....13.248
mph...101.85

I logged the run on my pocketlogger the numbers are ridiculus. Into forth gear i was getting -4' timing. The o2 values never went below 1.0 and went to 1.02 once.

here is the log i looked at this log and turned the boost back down to 17 and haven't touched the safc.

the safc was set at -18 all the way accross. i think i should have leaned it out more. the egt was just approching 1600' when i crossed the finished line.

2nd gear during the run

I think you are definitly right. I know ever car is different but out of curiousity what are your hi settings canadian when at 20 pounds on the b16g just trying to gauge a couple things thanks.

I'd also concur on the rich thing, but then don't go by O2 sensor alone.

As well, I'd say that you are knocking like hell. None of those gears have good timing. 17 aint bad, but thats a peak. I'd say heat soak, but you have a nice FMIC.

Try some race gas and see if it goes away. you may have badly carboned up combustion chambers.

If it goes away with race gas what does that mean. I can't run that much psi on 93, or i need to take out fuel.

i could have carboned up the combustion chambers in 1300 miles? what exactly does that do?

thanks guys.

well, if the timing goes up with race gas, it means that you have spark knock. You will need to get that fixed up, by tuning or other methods. If the timing doesn't change with race gas, or only changes a bit, its something else, like a loose bolt setting off the sensor etc.

I didn't see the part about 1300 miles, I apologise. I don't think you could get enough carbon in there in that short a time, BUT you are running pig rich, at least your O2 sensor is saying so.

Hook up a wideband on it if you have acess, then you will know.

just an aside, you HAVE to remove your cat to run race gas, it WILL kill it and plug it up badly.

Speaking of that, a plugged cat can cause knock too. I see it at work on a regular basis.

thanks for the info bohrn,

i'm running no cat right know so that shouldn't be the problem.

Is rich knock as bad as Lean knock. Wondering if i did any damage. I wouldn't think that rich knock is as bad, but i don't understand why to much fuel would make it knock. If anyone could explain that a little i would appreciate it.

Turbotrix is an hour away i might just bring the car to them and have them tune it. I have spent to much money on this thing to mess around with it forever. Anybody have any idea how long a normal tuning session lasts. Turbotrix is $150 an hour. Or i could spend another $250 and buy wide band and tune anytime i want. hmmm so many desicions....
