Can't figure out which tuning system to get.

I want to get something i can use to tune my ecu but don't know what would benefit me most. I know the dsmlink is the best bet but if i am correct i need an eprom ecu in order to use dsmlink which my car is a 98 so naturally i'd have to find a 95 that i can get the ecu from right?

I was looking at getting dsmlink v3 but after finding out i need to get a new ecu would i be better off getting SAFC-II or an evoscan to tune my non-eprom ecu?

If i went the SAFC-II or evoscan do i have to get a reflashed chip? I am a little confused on what logging system to use, or what to do in the tuning department. There seem to be so many routes to take but which is more beneficial for the price?

I am planning on getting a walbro 255, 850cc injectors, afpr, and a wideband o2, my goal is around 350-400hp.

Dsmlink for now and the future start with lite if you want. Look at the site, and look at your budget, a wideband, Im getting link and not looking back should have done it a long time ago, oh well its on the way.

But if i get link what's the deal with my non-eprom ecu? how do i get link to work with that? From what i read i can't use link with a non-eprom ecu.

If you really have a 98, your ECU is flashable. All you need is a tactrix 2.0 cable and open ECU which is free. Do a search for ceddymod and flashable ecu.

You can have it changed to eprom, even discount when you order dsmlink. Mines non but its going to be changed over, for me its cheap enough. Havent decided change first then get link, my winter project.

So i can do the ceddymod flash and still be able to tune everything i need to rather than changing out the ecu to use link or get a flashed chip for the evoscan/safc-II?

Yes. If you have a 98/99 black plastic ECU all you need is the cable and the free program (and a wideband) and you can tune your car.

Nice, that's great especially money-wise. That saves a big buck. Are there certain features that you don't have with the ceddymod that you get with other programmers?

And i was going to get a wideband anyways, everything i read says those are crucial for tuning.
