I have a 90 laser n/t 2.0,

put a new set of ngk plugs in to start it, just keeps turning and turning, wont crank over. So i pull the plugs out and their soaked in fuel. wipe them down, clean them, wait for them to dry, same thing all over again. Would this be a problem of getting no spark? or something controlling my fuel delivery? What should i check for next?

I say its your starter... but put in your old plugs and see if it works?

Also hear for a clicking.... if its not clicking that means that is the starter.

I dont even know where to begin on this problem... your old plugs worked and your new plugs dont... it doesnt really make much sense... I say try the old ones or see if those plugs are for your car.

well this sounds familiar. my talon es died one day and i couldnt find what it was. it kept turning over and over and wouldnt start. i changed everything from electronic modules to fuel pump. i got so fed up i took it to a shop for some professional help. and yep you guessed it, it was my timing belt. i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but thats what it sounds like to me if nothing else seems to work. and if it is the timing belt, you need to be ready to replace some valves and of course the belt itself. you can do it yourself, which is a big head ache... or you can do what i did and have a pro do it. and if you do that be ready to turn out about $1500 for parts and labor. hope thats not the problem though, good luck

dam this motor and trans have 16k on rebuild, the timing belt isnt old at all(same as motor), I will take the Upper TB cover off and have a look. How would i check for skipped teeth?? If it snapped that would be obvious, but if it skipped teeth how would I know?

P.S. - its been sitting for a long time, i ran it the one day, and 2 days later i go to start it up and it wouldnt start, so if it is the timing belt, i think the valves should be ok. The timing belt on the old motor snapped once when i was doing 25 mph and all valves were fine. I only had it idling shut it off, then 2 days later it wouldnt start, so at idling speed i think it would be ok as compared to going 25mph in 2nd gear at how many rpm's??

well when the engine was rebuilt, did you replace the timing belt? it could be possible that the TB was reused. or maybe there was a faulty one put it?? and it would be no use looking under the TB cover. if there were any teeth missing it would be down on the crank. but it would be useful to take off the TB cover and have someone watch it while you turn it over. if the TB doesnt move, well then there you go. and it may be pure luck last time your TB broke and you didnt have bent valves, because the way this engine is made, its almost certain. best of luck to you.

yes the timing belt was new, along with all new seals and gaskets and cam gears. i'm trying to find someone to give me a hand but with the weather only being nice on weekdays its kinda hard to get anything done in the rain on the weekends. I'm gonna pull the tb cover off and keep cranking it over to first see if it spins, and 2 take it all the way around and see if teeth skipped.
