cannot find a gas leak (1g)

there is a strong smell of gas when i get out of my car (1991 talon TSi AWD) after driving it, and when i start it up, it takes about twice as long as usual as if there is no pressure in the fuel lines. are DSM's known for a fuel leak somewhere? and how can i find a fuel leak (besides using a lighter and a prayer )? i looked and the lines seem to be solid from the fire wall to the gas tank, and there is no obvious leakage under the car (though i would assume it would evaperate before i notice it). please help, i dont wanna die!

drive the car normally...goto a gas station, and look under the car. see if any small leaks can be seen..i have a 93 tsi and i had the same thing..turned out to be the gas tank. driver side

well i just took another look at it and it apears the rear seam on the drivers side of the tank is leaking. how hard is it to replace a tank?

I have the same problem as you guys do too. I have a 93 AWD talon and the gas leaks big TIME on the Driver side of the gas tank when I fill it all the way up. I don't know if it's safe enough to fix the leak rather than to replace the whole gas tank. I got a quote for $120 on a used tank. Let me know if you guys find a cheaper fix.
