Can my 1999 2.0 gsx have a 2.4 alternator?

So I bought a H/O alternator from alterstart.com 170 amp. I ended up taking out the old alternator as soon and my new one came in. Only to find out its the wrong one. My 2.0 has a 4 prong connector and bigger mounting bracket, I know for a fact my car is a 2.0 but i sent it back and they told me its a 2.4. I sent them pictures of the alternator side by side, and even sent them my vin #. I looked up my vin on KBB and sure enough its a 2.0. I called back and told them that and they are certain its a 2.4. Am i going crazy and dont know my car or are they just trying to get out of paying for the shipping? Or could the previous owner of my car put in a 2.4 alternator? Im going crazy and will be very very mad if I recieve the wrong alternator again in the mail... Oh and I posted my problem with the squeeling belt a bit ago, well taking out the alternator and putting the same one back in fixed it... oh well atleast i didnt work for nothing.
