I was recently shipped a custom 200amp alternator. Upon closer inspection i noticed the width of the bolt mount where the alternator attaches to the engine block was to short to fit i.e. my current alternator had a wider bolt mount

[]---------[] <--My Current Alternator Bolt Pattern
[]-------[] <--The Alternator bolt pattern on the alternator shipped to me for supposedly 2.0L Engine

Something like above, upon taking pictures and shipping the alternator back to who I purchased it from he stated that the alternator he shipped me was in fact for a 2.0L engine and that the one I currently had in my car is for a 2.4L. Now I know I have not had an engine swap done.

So I am curious can anyone confirm which alternator has the wider bolt mount and which has the slimmer one?

I have pictures that I will post once I get home from work

Do you have any idea if you have the G4CS or the 4G64, or is this the first you knew your car had an engine swap?

Also, I can not find any dimensions on that specific area, but I have also noticed that from all the part number and applications, they are not the same.

I know for a fact I DO NOT have a 2.4L engine, thats why this is confusing.

Either he is misinformed or something else is going on here. I just want to verify which engine has the wider and slimmer bolt mount for the mounting bolt on the alternator.

Here are the pics obviously the older looking one is the one that was on my car.

Notice the difference in width between the mounting bolt. He says the one that was on my car was for the 2.4L and the other is for 2.0

He is sending me the "correct" one which he says is for a 2.4.

Seeing as how I don't know which is which, but I KNOW I have a 2.0 engine my only conclusion is that he is mistaken?

I dont think the new one you got is for a 2.0 or 2.4 the blocks are the same except for a little taller. Maybe the one you got was for a 1.8 or something.

The one on the Right looks like a 1G alt. are the plugs the same?

I have a G4CS (2.4L) the block is the same except for the deck height.

Nope plugs are different as well, if you look in the pic we have the pigtail from a 240sx, so the plugs are not a problem. I remember reading the Saturn alt diagram just have to locate the right wires and splice em.

So no idea what this alternator is eh? haha.

I hope he sends the right one this time. I should have measured the gap before I sent it back

I should be getting the "Correct" alternator this week I will take more pictures and measure the gap of the mounting bolt on the block and the alternator itself. He says the alternator I have now(the rusty POS) is for a 2.4L which is impossible unless I have some freak block because I KNOW my engine is a 2.0. So maybe it was just a mistake.

Either way I will measure my current alternators mounting bolt width and I will measure the block.

By the way the Alternator I ordered is 200AMP from Excessive Amperage - High output alternators by C.S.A., Nathan the gentleman's name has been very good in handling this. I will also take pictures on how I rewired the fuse box from 2 different 8ga wires to 1 2ga.
