Sup Guys,

Can I use 1200c High heat engine spray to paint my headers? Will it chip? They look rusted, it's disgusting. Has anyone ever done it?

Thanks

Hello, I've used VHT flameproof spraypaint on my exhaust manifold (not quite headers) and it's holding up fine. I would sand off the rust and spray it

Thanks, How long since you painted it? How much was the VHT paint?

I don't drive my car that much but others have had good experiences with it as well. It's about 10 bucks a spray can

It will fade very quickly, and eventually flake off. And that's what happened when I put it on just my heatshield! Your best bet is getting it jet-hot coated or something, or a nice looking aftermarket header.

Did you use the high heat 1200c spray paint or the VHT paint?

I've used 1200*, 1500*, etc. and they all fade over time. They will scratch and get chalky/dusty but it's much better than rust and cheaper than the ceramic coating like jet-hot. The paint doesn't keep the heat in line the expensive coating do so it all depends on what your trying to do and how much money you have.

Something I'm trying right now and am eager to see the results of us using the super cheap BBQ grill paint (about 2 layers) and then another 2 coats of a high temp ceramic brake caliper paint. I'm hoping that this will last for a little while and help reduce underhood temps, however I'm not really betting on it.
