95 Talon with 7 bolt bottom and complete 6 bolt everything wlse from head gasket up. Just want to clean things up better, so feeding my TDO5 20g would look better from the head. Any input? Should be ok oil pressure?

It shouldn't be about looks bro, but about what the turbo needs for oil pressure and volume. That being said you should be fine feeding it from the head, I feed my mhi 16g from the head with no issues. Your best bet would be to put a gauge on the feedline to ensure proper pressure, then make the call wether its best from the head port or ofh port.

My engine bay is all cleaned up, tucked ect. If I can get rid of the front SS oil line and just go to the head, I would be much happier. Its not like im running a huge Holset or something

If it still has the stock thrust plate, feed it from the head. If it has an upgraded thrust plate with additional oiling holes (like those used in the FP Green/Red), feed from the filter housing with a restrictor.

I will have to find out. The guy I bought it from, said he rebuilt it with true 20g internals, but its still a TDO5 housing ebay

There is another guy in pennsylvania on ebay. He sells a lot of rebuilt MHI turbos and parts. I assume he is just turning core 14b's into 20g's all day long and trying to make some money. But he uses a lot of ebay exhaust housings and compressor covers. My point is, he kind of leads people on into thinking that he is you jusmx, but doesn't flat out lie and impersonate you. He just tries to be real vague so people assume it is you. Its hilarious. Anyways, this turbo may be form him. He ripped me off by telling me he was sending me an authentic MHI 2inch disharge 20g cover. It showed up as an ebay 20g cover. Not that i care that much for a compressor cover, but it is the point. That transaction was form this forum BTW, not ebay. I put two and two together that he is the same dude as the ebay guy by looking at his ads on here and ebay. He only "impersonates" you on ebay of course.

To the posgter, its easiest to just run your mhi turbo form the head witht he stock line and restrictor. If you want to go from the OFH you need really need to verify your pressure at the feed, but most people need between a .065 and .075 restrictor for an MHI turbo.

Well isn't that special. :|

If he can make money selling stuff on eBay, more power to him. I haven't sold a turbo on there in over two years- that place is such a ripoff with their fees and such, and the buyer protection policy pretty much guarantees that someone is going to buy a turbo from you, say it doesn't work, file a Paypal claim, and you'll get their previous blown eBay special back in the box. I don't have time for that bullshit.

FI have pictures hang on.

the "20g" has a much larger compressor housing opening, and the turbine blade looks simular to my ebay 16g :-( but overall its solid and no movement. Guy I bought it from said he would take it apart for picture proff of 20g true parts.

Looks like I need to do some research. I don't understand what you said with a restrictor. Is that something I need to buy? I just know that with like Holets and stuff like that, you need to start worring more about the amount of oil pressure, so you don't wreck your turbo

^ That thing is atrocious- I wouldn't give over $100 for it. The fact that someone would try to pawn that work off as something done by me is a HUGE dishonor to myself; I'm quite unhappy about that.

I'd be ashamed to let something like that go as a rebuilder with zero prep and cleanup done...just looks like some parts were thrown into a used turbo. It's like buying an engine or transmission all covered in grease that the seller is advertising as "freshly rebuilt". Sure wouldn't give me much confidence as a buyer.

For the record, that isn't a MHI 20G compressor wheel whatsoever. The leading edge of those compressor blades are straight, just like many Chinese knockoffs. MHI 16G/18G/20G compressor wheel have a "swept" leading edge, like this:

So, at best, we have a knockoff compressor cover, knockoff turbine housing, knockoff compressor wheel...even if the turbine wheel, all the internals, and center housing are MHI at this point the turbo is roughly half Chinese being advertised as having "true 20G internals", whatever that means.

This is an example of a proper rebuild done to a knockoff turbo. This unit was built for a local customer on a budget as an upgrade over two years ago. Full rebuild including a rebalance was done, and the turbo is still on the car to this day and working perfectly at just over 20psi.

I'd be sending that P.O.S. back if I were in your shoes.

at least he wasn't as sneaky as he was trying to be with my compressor cover. He ground all ID off the casting. I guess he didn't realise that cast in 90 degree elbow pretty much gurantees a 17c style cover is a knockoff without even inspecting the turbo.

So this isn't the 20g that was advertised? This guy has feedback from you Justin for buying turbine wheels.

xxxxxxxx is the member who sold this to me. Nice guy and everything. I text him several times prior to buying on how I didn't want to get screwed over witha eBay turbo :-(

Well you can be a nice guy all you want- if you don't know what you're doing, you shouldn't be building/selling turbos, or stating things that aren't true in the ad to make a sale. Like I said, no matter what turbine wheel or internals it has it's still a $200-$250 knockoff in disguise.

You can't turn a knockoff into a MHI turbo, it's impossible. The turbine housing on this unit isn't the high-nickel MHI Evo III casting. The compressor wheel is not Genuine, nor is it even a high-quality aftermarket copy of a Genuine wheel. Wheels like this often fail from the fins breaking off on their own without even having anything sucked into the turbo. All of these things should have been taken into consideration when the pricing was figured for the turbo- for instance, if I'm selling a MHI 16G that has a knockoff turbine housing, it would be priced significantly less than a full-on Genuine MHI 16G.

You can rebuild knockoffs with better parts and have the rotating assembly balance-checked to make them more reliable as I've proven above....but that doesn't mean the turbo is worth a pile of money nor is it anywhere near as good as a MHI unit. The Chinese Evo III that I rebuilt for the local guy shown above still sold for under $200, and I made enough profit from labor to be happy with the deal and was glad to help the guy out.

I did this with my previous set up temporarily until I could mod something else but it ran fine.

Actually it was me who sold the turbo to him. Never impersonated Justin. Also I didn't lie, mislead, or try to be shady and say anything about "True 20g internals". It's a rebuilt ebay 20g. I CLEARLY stated that in my ad.

And Justin, where's the grease you spoke of? It was disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt. The CHRA was painted in high temp gloss black. It was clean when it was shipped out.

Before the OP starts saying things that aren't true and getting the thread all upset about a scammer, he needs to be very specific and not say things that I never said.

Why are you sad? My ad was very specific in what you were getting. For God's sake, you paid as much for the whole thing as you would for just a standard rebuild. Actually $30 less not including shipping. I didn't rip you off. Hook it up, run it, and you'll be happy.

Seamus- way to stir the sh#t, bro. I believe you're referring to Austin aka pj91gsx, he in no way, shape or form tries to impersonate Justin. I have deal with him through ebay, here and via text and neither time he knew it was the same person and he never tried acting like anyone else... especially Justin LOL. I've had nothing but good experiences with him.

The grease doesn't exist on your turbo, it existed on the engine and transmission in my example.

If you indeed made it clear it was a rebuilt eBay turbo before the transaction took place, then the buyer should have known what he was getting instead of being under the impression that it had real parts given these posts from above:

Guy I bought it from said he would take it apart for picture proff of 20g true parts.

Sounds like there's a little confusion there.

In no way am I trying to critique your services- how you conduct business is your prerogative. My main point is there's a big difference between someone that rebuilds turbochargers and someone that installs new parts in turbochargers with zero prep / cleanup being done.

I understand that and know the difference. Thanks for your input Justin.

And yes, the op needs to get some stuff straight.
