I was talking to a friend of mine the other night who owns a 94 Talon DL. He was telling me about a muffler he just put on his, since he knows that I've been looking for one for a while. I don't want any shitty string trimmer wannabe, raspy piece of garbage. He said this one is really low and quiet unless you're standing on it, then it gets loud, but still sounds good.
So he drove up tonight to show me, and it really does sound good. I stood up by the road and he did a few passes and startoffs for me to hear what it's like, and then let me drive it to see what it was like from the inside. Not bad at all. Pretty much the kind've sound I was going for. Thing is, this was on a 1.8. Can I expect a similar sound from my 2.0?
Also, is there really a point to it? He says that by replacing my stock muffler with that, it'll give me a LITTLE bit of power. As far as I know, this is only a muffler replacement, and I was under the impression that just changing the muffler either wouldn't do anything performance-wise, or just screw up your backpressure and make your engine run like shit.
But I need a new muffler anyway, and the price is right on this once since he can get me a deal through his work...a 120+ dollar muffler for 60 installed. So even if it won't help my power, I'll probably go with it anyway as long as it isn't going to screw anything up. Any words from the wise?
