can gm maf work without a translator

Here's my questions. Can I just put a GM MAF on my car? Do I need a translator. I guess Im asking what do i need to run a GM MAF

Yes you have to have the translator. Your stock MAS is a Karman Vortex type that reads the amount of air by reading vortices created by the honeycombs. The GM mas is a hotwire type which reads the amount of air by heating an element and then judging how the air moves around it.
