Can anyone tell me what this is over my fuel pump?

First to explain I bought this car recently and am having a headache figuring out wiring missing screws etc. Lets just say the kid I bought my 98 gsx from wasnt too caring on doing a perfect job. But I didnt have many gsx's to choose from.

here is a picture poorly wraped in electrical tape. I have been having problems with the WOT tuning. Its air/fuel ratio is fine but after extensive WOT towards 6k rpms the air/fuel misture will drop to lean from staying a steady richer mixture. I was thinking my fuel system couldnt keep up. So On my way to pull the pump I found this little guy. Is this my answer? does this adjust psi or voltage to give me more fuel? Doesnt look like anything Ive seen before and I searched the web for rewire kits fuel pump kits, maybe I missed something. This is my last resort hopefully you guys can help.

When I bought it the kid handed me an evo8 fuel rail and evo 8 injectors. He said he tried these but it wouldnt run right. So I am guessing some mod to the fuel system was done. anyways steel lines are soaking in PB blaster to inspect further.

The car has a 16g turbo sitting at 10psi, dejon intercooler, MAF-T, slowboys intake manifold, evo10 intake, 2.5" custom exhaust with high flow catalytic.

If you notice the gold adjustment screw on the tiny blue box is where I am talking about. sorry the pictures bad.

Weird... I've never seen any kind of adjustment screws on rewire kits, I highly doubt its used to tune the fuel pressure as thats what a FPR is used for. Can you trace the wires to see where it leads to? does it come out of the wiring harness for the fuel pump?

LOL ya , it comes out of the wiring harness , not really sure. sad thing is when I put my new fuel system in i'll still have this sitting there? I have no idea

What i would do is get a multimeter and with the car in running prob the power wire carefully and see what the voltage is under load. If it was rewired you should see 12 to 14V. if its stock wiring who really knows LOL. And try turning the POT conterclockwise and clockwise to see if the voltage fluctuates. Wich it shouldnt as that POT seems to small to be used with the fuel pump. Can you get more detailed pics? looks like you used a older cell phone. If you cant its all good
