2G can anyone identify this sensor??

hey all,
been searching to find out what this sensor is. trying to eliminate all if not most emissions-related stuff but have been unsuccessful on identifying. the sensor starts on the driver side of the intake manifold goes under the intake manifold. thanks in advanced!

Looks like it might be the EVAP purge solenoid, based on the diagrams in the link above.

If this is removed will this throw a check engine? produce drivability issues? untill it gets shut off during tune?
