2G Can’t figure out where this noise is coming from

Hey guys,

Please provide some tips on trouble shooting this sound.

sounds like lifters, but they were replaced
with 3g lifters.

Doesn’t seem like a knock not sure what it could be or something in the trans

Drivability is fine, no issues and I don’t hear it while driving just idle

That sounds just like lifter tick to me.

What head is on it?

Sounds like lifter tick which goes away once if gets rotating. I would be concerned about oil pressure at the head which in certain mod combos there is an exhaust stud that can block an oil channel.

It sounds like it could just be a manifold leak, it can be proven or not by smoke testing the engine with some seafoam, other things to check would be the auto tensioner for proper clearance and to make sure that its not blown out, i have had those sounds from that too, also check your idler and tensioner pulley to make sure that the bolts for them have not backed out, again experience with them also doing that and making this sound, but it just might be the actual lifters for some reason, Mitsubishi has a method for bleeding them if you do a search for the info.

Will check all of these thank you very much! All of the pulleys and tensioners are new and I bled the lifters but maybe they are clogged I did not take them apart.
