Just got my 98 MY together and it keeps throwing "camshaft position sensor circuit" code. I replaced the sensor and still throws code on start up. Car starts and and idles great but has no power when under load like.trying to take off. I bought the car with a blow motor and replaced it myself. I replaced plugs and put in fresh gas. Any help on code? Also this is my first 420a I have ever had and I know lil about them.

I have the same problem only intermittent. I have concluded that there is a short in the wire that leads from the sensor to the ECU. I haven't tracked it down yet as I was able to overcome it by keeping the cold air intake from rubbing against the bundle of cables that run to the ECU.

Now it only happens when I hit one of those deep Colorado potholes.

I also had some oil leaking from the valve cover onto the connector to the CPS. Thought this was the problem as when I cleaned the connector it went away for awhile. I fixed the leak but it didn't completely fix it.:hmm:

The sensor did have oil on the back of it and I wiped it off but didn't do a great clean on it. Did it make your car run weak? Reason I ask is because this car set for almost a year and I'm thinking the gas could be bad but I did use a bottle of heat and added fresh gas to the tank.

I checked the my wires and the power wire on got to around 9.31 volts and the battery checked around 12.46 volts. Low but I wouldn't think enough to stop the power like it is. Also swapped out the crank sensor and still nothing changed. Working on checking the timing but I checked it everyday I worked on the motor even if it was only to turn a few bolts so honestly around 20 times so I dont feel it's off.

No car didn't run weak, just all of a sudden cuts out usually under load in second gear. Ex. This dork tried to cut me off so I nailed it shifted into second and was pulling strong when I hit a rut and it started to sputter and threw a CEL which turned out to be a loss of signal from cam sensor. So I'm sure there is a wire that has a good connection unless it gets moved than it opens up. On my car its very random, good for days than will sputter. It was much worse when the cold air intake was laying against the wiring loom that goes from the cam sensor to the ecu.

Good luck,

Ok still not running right. Timing is good, compression is good, leak down test was good, swapped out all sensors having anything to do with the cam sensor. Even changed spark plugs again. Could it be fuel? I'm lost and need help badly!!!!
