Ok I'm fairly new to this mod thing. I'm trying to figure out Cams.... I see 272/272 264/272/ and 280. Whats the difference. I'm trying to figure out which is best for hp gains. My mods are in my profile if that helps. basically I have a 97 gsx 6 bolt swap, bored over 2 je pistons 1g rods. ebay 3 16g turbo, I think ebay at least came with the car when I bought it never verified if it's evo or ebay. thats about it engine wise. So if anyone can help thanks

And yes I did search but nothing explaining cams as far as numbers/performance.

Yes I know I'm planing to go with the fp green turbo. my goals are a 500hp dd. and 10s for drag mainly dd tho

Okay your gonna want at least the 272 or bigger. I think the 272 will suit the fp green very well if you decide going for a bigger turbo then I would look into 280

Ok so the larger the number cam the more air that it's pushing out/ sucking in. ok Thanks guys

The higher the number, the higher the duration. You would gain HP in the higher range of your RPM's (ex 6K to redline) with 272's vs 264's. But if you install 264's you should get most of your HP in the mid-range of your RPM's (ex 3K-5K) which is where you want the power for every day driving.

I suggest you read up a little more. Here a link to start you off. Camshaft102 - Lift and Duration - Import Tuner Magazine
