ive read and looked in every place possible . Im building a non turbo 1g for circle track racing . Are after market cams going to help me or not ?. Ive been looking at the 272;s ....Basicly a fresh rebuild on a stock motor and im looking for a increase in power here .Please all you guys - its a non turbo build and I have to stay non turbo --------its a 6 bolt motor and before i invest in cams i need some input from you guys .....

Like any other part cams can do quite a bit if you have supporting mods. As far as what size you should go with I'm not sure. 272 is a decent cam for a turbo engine but with out the forced induction I would think you could get it to be very efficient but again i don't know much about the N/A motor or what the stock cam size are for it. I would figure that out first before jumping into cams. Good luck though hope all go's well.

For circle track racing I'd imagine you'd be wide-open the majority of the time. Where cams may never benefit a daily-driven non-turbo because it moves the powerband too far to the higher RPM's, your application may benefit.

You may also benefit from picking up a set of cheap adjustable cam gears and dialing in the overlap of your stock cams a little.
