i have 272/272 cams in my 90 talon and my timing is off by a tooth. i got to thinking and i know the exhaust cam should be slightly smaller then the intake, so has anyone ever heard of purposely offsetting the timing to compensate for the cams being the same size?

Correct the cam timming for the car to run properly, engine damage could occur and the car runs like crap if left alone. If you want to degree the cams in and make small adjustments there may be some extra power to be had depending on your set up. You will need adjsutable cam gears, a cam degreeing kit, and some time to perform the work. Anyway you go, you need to correct the cam timming before you have problems.

HKS cam spec, exhaust cam is slightly smaller in lift than the intake cam, although they share the same duration:

HKS 272
Advertised Duration - 272 deg
Effective Duration - 214 deg @ 1mm
Lift - 10.8mm Int / 10.2mm Exh
Lobe Centerlines - 110 deg Int / 110 deg Exh
LSA - 110 deg

yea i knew if timing was off it could lead to big problems but i didnt know if there was an exception with cam size and such. thanks
