Car specifics: a recently installed fully built SBR 6-bolt long block in my 97 spyder. A 9.1:1 4g63 block, and a 101200 Comp cammed head, ported. Other stuff: 2.5" catback, Evo III 16G.

I knew the car would be much louder at idle and on the gas with the cams than stock. But the noise is way louder than I expected, and draws more attention that it did before (read: California cops).

I have searched on here, and other forums, looking for a way to quite down the exhaust note, if possible. The muffler people said that they had some new Magnaflow resonators in stock, which a lot of V8 folk like to use, since they dampen the sound without compromising on pipe diameter and airflow. I do realize that I can't ever sound stock with the cams, ofcourse, but any level of dampening would certainly help. Any suggestions?

I've noticed my car sounds really different at around the 3k rpm level. On and off boost, it's quite loud when it gets to that point. This is with comp200s.
