Can someone please fill me in with the 411 on how the cam gears should be set. What I mean when you do the dyno which one should you advantce an retard to make more HP over Torque. An what should you start with when making the first adjustment with the gears. Like should I only move it 1 notch or should I move it 5 notches? Also to the note do you move the intake an the exaust both the same way or does one adv. an the other you retard? Sorry for any misspelling the spell check button wont work for some reason. Matter of fact I can't even change the font or anything on here.

With a few dyno pulls an engine's torque curve can be moved up or down the RPM range by adjusting cam gears. See How to Tune Cam Gears on a 4g63t - My Pro Street. Where to move the torque curve is a matter of personal preference. Go slow to get it right.

For anyone out there who don't want to pay for the dyno time:
Without the dyno tuning aftermarket cam gears are just bling that can slip out of adjustment and introduce your valves to the pistons.

I had to get adjustable cam gears because wene I degreed in my reground cams my exhaust cam was 14 degrees retarded but the intake was 1 degree advanced. I didn't need a dyno to tell me that.

Cool thanks that helped. Now I know what to look for in the direction of degree for the cams. I wanted to hit full boost sooner an bring my rpm range lower. Since I have the HKS 272 an a EVO III 16G. I was wanting to try an get full boost at 3k or 3.2k. I think the faster I can max it out will result in faster 1/4 times.

Another question does anyone know if a ram-air hood would benefit a forced induction system like out cars??? I was thinking of getting a hood but didn't know if the benefits would be worth it.

How did you make out with the cam gears? Just a heads up it's not a good idea to go more then 5* in either direction (advance or retard), in case no one has mentioned it to you yet.
