The article speaks a lot of shimming the HLAs in order to get to zero lash. Since the article has been written, advances have been made to disassemble the HLAs (destroying them) in order to create adjustable lifters for degreeing purposes.

I've yet to either degree my cams, build my piston stop, order my degree wheel or finish building my adjustable HLAs, but with the information above and some mechanical sense, it's not looking terribly difficult.
