Buying a high millage DSM (142915) what should i look for as red flags?

i am looking at buying a 1995 Eagle Talon TSI. it has 230000 KM (142915 miles) its abit high but i was hoping someone could say what to look for or what to replace when buying a turbo car with alot on km (miles).

Shaft play on the turbo. Maintenance records for when the timing belt was changed. Strut tower rust for a 2g car. Does is smoke at all, anytime? Any funny motor noises? Does trans shift smooth? How does the oil and antifreeze look? Check all belts and hoses for wear. My 90 GSX has 295000 on its odometer and she is still solid. I would bet it is on its 2nd motor but can't confirm it.

143k is "high mileage" for a DSM? I'd love if any of my family DSMs had only 143k miles!

Then maybe this: DSM Maintenance Guide. Anything mentioned in this link should be checked as well as it can possibly be checked on any used, turbocharged DSM. Checking what you can before you buy gives you a better indication as to what you can expect will need to be done to the car after you buy.

Great point, at 12k per year it should be at 300k miles... that thing is barely broken in!
