Hey fella's

I went and looked at 1992 Eclipse GS-X everything seemed to be in order, except for the frame rail that is bent under the drivers side. It is crushed almost flat, from what, I am not entirely sure. It looks as if it was smacked flat.

My question is this, should this effect the cars over all performance, launching, durablity or handling abilities?

To clarify, it is a 4G63T 6bolt motor, 4 bolt rear differential...

All opinions on this topic are welcome :)

how much is it? Might help make a decision, of course if it is cheap you could always find a shell and transfer the 6-bolt over to the other car.

guy wants 2800, its bone stock except for a upper intercooler pipe, boost controler and a boost gauge. and it just hit 100,XXX this after noon when i test drove it. Everything is in great condition. Is there anyway a body shop can chop the section out and weld in a new section?

That frame rail part you describe sounds like a major structural part of the unibody chasis. I'd keep looking as you don't know what would happen if you were to apply higher than normal stress to the body from something like spirited driving, etc. Frame straightening can be done, but I think the cost would be prohibitively high considering the asking price for the car.

I'd keep looking, make that car somebody else's problem.

Hey guys thank you for all your answers. I went to a extremely good bodyshop and they said that i dont even need to worry about it, it happeds to everyones cars. Its normaly from jacking up the car or he scraped a speedbump. SO on thursday i will be picking up a almost mint condition 92 gsx that that has been babied all its life.

Thank you guys,
Ryan

:dsm: I allready have a few ideas of what im gonna do to this sexy thing :dsm:

yep, i was going to say the same thing. Mine had a flat sport from where i jacked it there a huge amount of times to change brake pads and adjust random camber and toe settings. Nothing to worry about. Enjoy your purchase.
