Hey guys I'm looking at a talon tsi 97 with 82k on the body and engine. There's no rust on the body and the engine bay is super clean n sexy. Dude says the throwout bearing could be bad on it so it starts but doesn't drive. I was thinking of just putting a new trany in it anyways. What are some things I should look for and any pointer you could give would help greatly.

He's totally firm on 3 I tryd getting him lower. But he won't budge. Should I take the risk and pick it up? I'm already expecting to put a new trany in it.

Hey bro nice to see you're back! :hellyeah:

Well bro you can take a risk, but since the car isn't drivable then it could be hard to diagnose what is wrong. If it was the TOB I'm pretty sure he would of just fixed it and called it a day.

Since you can't drive it you have to make a choice... Risk it and get a loss or risk it and fix a "TOB" and car is perfect. DSM's are a gamble.

As most cars hoses, belts, compression test, receipts, brakes tires, general maintenace.

Also as he stated. Ask for receipts, hows the tires/tread, are the shocks good or do they squeak? Hows the interior? Check the oil and since it starts check the smoke coming out of the exhaust... See if theres any white smoke... If it smeels sweet... etc... Gotta make sure you don't spend 3k on a car that will bust your balls.

valve seals that is

Also does this talon have any mods? Is the car completely stock or was it molested?

Mods will add up to the price. If it has a lot of mods then it may be worth it, unless the guy wasn't smart and ****** **** up and caused it to not work as it was supposed to.

Also if the Tranny is 87k miles and is the original one, then there is a reason to replace it. Less miles the better. You may just need to change the clutch and the TOB. Not that expensive.

Also did you check inside the strut tower for rust?

You're very welcome.

You still thinking of doing a Eclipse Conversion? :p
