Hey guys I got a quick question. Anyone know anything bad about 97 gsx? Like over all I know there a 7 bolt and that doesnt bother me at all. I'm just a first gen guy. I have had about 5 of them now from 1.8 to 2.0 turbos. Just wondering if there was anything to look out for on the 2nd gens. Thanks...

I dont think there is anything wrong with that specific year. Mine was in mint condition with nothing wrong. The only thing I did not like was how tall the shifter was but thats just me being picky. I love my gsx to death...you will be very happy.

I have a 98 and im having a problem with strut tower rust. My car lived almost 8 years in New Hampshire so thats probably the reason why. Its just like any other car though. If you take care of it then it will take care of you. I think you would be very happy owning a 97 gsx

i have had two. i love them. but i regret ever lowering the car. i scrape so damn bad honestly i would rather keep it at stock hight. also damaged my intercooler scrapping so much. and when i had the car towed ### it was lowered. the damn tow truck driver was putting it on the truck and ripped off the bumber and intercooler. oooooo i was pissed:mad:

but they are great cars. just do the damn maintance on them first.

Michigan has the same problem, luckily i haven't had to deal with that.

Would strut tower rust apply to all 2gs??

Cheap metal means rust on the strut towers, for ALL the 2g if you dont take care of them. Everyone seems to have the scraping problem, but i have the tokico kit and it sits just right.

96-97 have the ECU monitors problem. When tested, they will not pass unless you go to the dealer and have your monitors reset and immediately smog them.

You can swap a newer ECU though which will take care of this problem.
