My 2g Is Burning Oil Like A Beast. What Can Cause This?? I Dont Have Any Leaks, I Have Already Checked All The Lines, Cap, Plug, Filter And Stick. But About Every Other Week I Have To Put 4 More Qts In. Also I Have A Strange High Pitch Squeel Comming Either From My Cam Gears Or My Pullies, It Only Does This During Idle. Wtf!!!! Someone Help :(

Sounds like rings to me.
Do a compression test and see what numbers you come up with.

As for the squeal it is a belt rubbing on a pulley. When does it do it? If it is when you turn the steering wheel, your powersteering/AC belt needs tightening. Otherwise it should be your alternator belt. An easy way to test the alternator belt is to remove it from the car, and start the car, and see if it makes the noise when it usually does. If it doesn't, it's that belt.

The squeal is caused by a loose belt(as stated above). Whenever you put a load on a certain pulley, if the belt isn't tight enough around it, the rapid spinning of the pulley will be too much for the belt, causing the pulley to slip against the belt, which in turn makes the WRRRRHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that you and all of the other people hear in the parking lots... :shhh:

WELL I LOOKED AGAIN AND AROUND MY TRANNY THERE IS ALOT OF WHAT LOOKS TO ME LIKE OLD OIL. IM GOING TO CHECK TO SEE IF MY MAIN SEAL IS LEAKING. BUT THERE IS NO OIL ON THE GROUND WHERE I USUALLY PARK. IM GOING TO CLEAN IT ALL OFF TODAY AND RUN IT FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND SEE IF THERE IS ANY NEW OIL ON IT. WITH BAD RINGS WOULDNT THERE BE A LOSS IN POWER?? IF SO THEN I DONT THINK THATS THE CASE BECAUSE I HAVENT FELT A LOSS IN HP. BUT ILL DO THE COMPRESSION TEST ANYWAYS. IT SHOULD COME UP 150 RIGHT?? :dsm:

CAPS man, lay off the CAPS. The compression numbers should be more around 170-200. Blown rings will cause a loss in power. You may be experiencing that, and just not know it. Do the test though, and let us know the #'s you come up with.

Does it smoke all of the time? Or primarily at a stop?

Oh boy brother, me and you are in the same boat. My ride is smoking like an indian cheif on his birthday. white smoke is bellowing out the exhaust and oil has been pissed all over the tranny and back of the engine. it's drivable and doesn't make any abnormal sounds. Is my turbo blown? or did i really burn a ring? Mine smokes all the time.

Here we go:
1) Pull off the Lower Intercooler Pipe and check for a large oil buildup in the pipe and intercooler. This indicates a bad turbo seal. Pulling off the intake pipe is an inaccurate test as you have a breather hose from your valvecover that will dump oil into the pipe. Depending upon the amount of crankcase pressure (a whole different issue), a large amount of oil may be found in the intake pipe. Check for shaft play along with this test.

2) Run a compression test to check for bad piston rings. Bad piston rings will allow oil to "blow by" into the combustion chamber. You will notice your spark plugs are soaked in oil when you pull them out to run the compression test.

3) Look for oil coming from the exhaust manifold and the exhaust runners on the head. This would indicate bad valve seals. Bad valve seals have a tendency to smoke more at idle, and when the car has sat for some period of time not running.

4) Check for coolant loss and headgasket problems.

Eagle_of_Fire - Make sure your oil feed line on your head is not leaking massive amounts of oil. Also make sure your valve cover breather hose is properly connected. Whether it's to a catch can or back into the intake. If you're noticing alot of oil loss around the pully side of the motor check your oil filter for a double gasket, or backing off.

Useful, but he has a N/T...

Yes, but there is more than one person with a smoking car in this thread. N/T disregard step 1).

Hey there my engine i just rebuilt it for the second time and is still buring oil .. :( first time .. was 6 months ago .. we opened last week and the pistons rings were stuck and all like a rock :p and we change everything but im still burning oil ... is not the seals what could it be?

i'm burning oil like crazy too but i think my problem should be a blown turbo seal. Used to have ALOT of white smoke coming out, but right now there's only some coming out when i rev it up. There's oil at the intake but the spark plugs are oil free. Have not done a compression test yet. maybe i should. Anyway, white smoke can be coolant, but it can also be oil that got into the exhaust and got heated up there (which i think is my case.) Burnt engine oil is blue smoke.
