bumper support on a 97-99

Ok, I have the 97-99 style front end. I plan on cutting out the black part on the opening in the center of the front bumper.

My question is, will cutting out that part of the bumper reveal the bumper support? I haven't removed the front bumper yet so I don't know, but in feeling around it seems as though it would.

To anyone that has done this (if it does make the bumper support visible), were you able to keep the bumper support by hacking it up a bit, or would that require a lot of hacking basically rendering the support useless? Did you opt to remove the support instead?

Obviously I can find out the answers to these questions by removing the front bumper, but it's late, cold, and well I don't plan on doing this for a little while anyway. I was just hoping to get an idea of what to expect before I pull off the front of my car.

Yes it will.

I have a HAHN FMIC and left the entire front support/bumper off the car. It still looks normal and doesn't sag but if I hit something I am gonna funk some $hit up.

^^^ Me too. I've been driving for 2 years w/o a bumper support but mine saggs a little. I used to have the GReddy 24R FMIC, but now I got the even bigger SlowBoy FMIC. You can take it out, but you'd be screwed even if you were involved in a 4 mph fender bender.
