personally it looks like garbage to me... just a bunch of untuned boxes welded togeather. :thumbdown

Manifolds from this "shop" were the subject of discussion of one of the local DSM boards out of the Twin Cities a while back and no one had heard of this Bulldog crew. Combine that with the fact that the manifold, as mentioned above, looks like a few boxes welded together means stray away from it IMHO.

this thing looks like a peice of crap.

Look at the magnus one how they develop it usin velocity stacks and the manifold gets smaller at the 1st cylinder there is a reason for that. so tehre is equal flow and what not.

just save up one more check and get a magnus or something thats not "bullydog"

give the product a change, how we know it's not good. i wouldn't buy one, because my intake is good for my set up. i'm pretty sure it's better than a stock 1g or 2g manifold, $265 is not bad.

Just because it's sheetmetal doesn't automatically make it better than stock. Actual engineering went into the stock pieces to make them perform, and I doubt any engineering went into this.

how do you know???? buy one ,put it on your car and tell us if it is bad engineering. personally i can give 2 shits about the manifold, let's see some research before we start downing a product. it's just like the obx intercooler discussion, how we know it's not as good as the apex intercooler. we don't because we have no facts or numbers to prove it's a wack intercooler, just like this intake manifold. we know that ss autochrome sells ####ed exhaust manifolds because we've seen the pics and heard the feedback from past customers. sometimes we can not go by looks alone, lets see how it performs before we make assumptions. :thumb:

from pics of the welds etc i can tell you its not constructed well. Its just rectangle tubing welded together. No engineering when into this thing at all. He took 6" runners which most intakes are using now, got a good size for the plenum and welded them together. No taper in the runners, no taper in the plenum, no velocity stacks, nothing to this manifold. You can complain people are jumping to conclusions if youd like, but its plain to see.

get a forrester, that is all

forrester manifolds are pieces together so you dont have to worry about no godamned welds cracking , liek the ones you see on smim. smim would be probably good for a drag car or a car you dont have to worry about if something goes wrong. But if for daily driver, forrester is prolly the best.

those are good points, but do you think it's better than our stock ones?? like i said i'm not for it or against it, i just want to see some proof before i make before i judge the thing.

I bought one. I got it in the mail, i'm not running it right now because i am finishing putting my motor together but I was very impressed at the workmanship of it. The welds are very nice and its nice and smooth on the inside. I think it is going to give me some power and with my 60mm mustang TB I think that setup will be very nice. I'll post how much I like it in a few weeks when i am finished with my car. take care

Kurt

No offense but i think youd shit after seeing a magnus, BJ's or JM manifold if you were impressed with that quality. Stock manifold outperforms basically every manifold mid range. If you really think you need an aftermarket manifold i would think youd look into somethin better quality with a real design behind it. for 200$ more you can have a JM manifold which is 'real quality'.

Hell, maybe after you get every thing put together you could take it to the dyno and get a back to back pull of the stock intake and the bulldog.

if for nothing else just to be sure that the part isn't actually hurting your horsepower

that thing is a total turd IMO. sheetmetal intake manifold............boy i bet that gets some nice hot air in the motor.....just what we want right? for a show car it would be alright i guess, other then that its a turd.

Not only do the welds look like ish, but look at the runners. I don't know what your heads look like, but my intake ports are not a perfect rectangle. I would like to see the manifold/head flange. They don't even show a pic of it. I bet the flange is cut out to match the head ports, but the rectange runners probably majorly overlap the ports. So air is just slamming into a flat obstruction. No venturi design, I doubt it has stacks. I'd never put that thing on my car.

Its no Magnus, but I bet it makes alot more power than a stock manifold. Also note it weighs 11 lbs, Magnus weighs 4, Forrester is a ton.

I wouldnt blast the engineering behind this manifold, we have no idea if there was actually time spent on it or not. Its almost the same design as BJ's, and it probably performs just as well.

i have a JM Mani and its awesome craftsmanship great props to Jim over there at his shop. Its a nice piece. :thumb:

I am plaining on hitting up the dyno as soon as i finish with my motor. I think i can swap manifolds and see if there is any differances.
