1G Budget exhaust manifold

My tubular manifold is cracked beyond the point of fixing. What are some good manifold options for under$700 CAD

And Is CX Racing a reputable brand?

No, that isn’t a good manifold. No tubular manifold is the correct selection for a 14b as you have listed in your profile (or a 16g for that matter) and most are Chinese made junk that will crack prematurely. The FP manifold is a good piece, however still not the most efficient choice as it’s large runner design is made with the more heavy hitting bolt on turbos in mind like an FP red or FP green, while it will hold up just fine it will cost you some spool for no good reason at all.

The correct choice for your set up would be a ported stock 2g exhaust manifold or ported evo 3 manifold. The 2g manifold holds up well however they’re all over 20 years old now, ported the JDM evo 3 manifold flows the same difference as a ported 2g manifold but it’s been cast with nickel like the real MHI evo 3 7cm turbine housings so it’s even less prone to cracking than it’s 2g counterpart. The problem is finding an Evo 3 manifold for a practical cost.

The budget solution is to pick up a Dorman stock replacement exhaust manifold for a 2g from rockauto or the parts store (I’ve seen it on rockauto listed under other brands but it’s all the same piece grab the cheapest one) and port it yourself or see about sending it out to be ported. Yes they’re made in China or Taiwan somewhere, but they’re heavy cast and won’t fail prematurely like the crappy thin tubing stainless tubular manifolds on the market out there. Once ported they flow all the same as their real 2g or evo 3 counterparts ported, and they’re cheap and brand new, along with being the most efficient performing selection for your set up.

People see these $90 shipped piece of garbage tubular manifolds and assume tubular means upgrade, when in reality the “bolt on” style ones don’t even flow as well as the stock piece they’re replacing, crack prematurely, and 9 times out of 10 the flanges are warped right out of the box. Morrison Fabrications is the only company to ever produce a “bolt on” tubular manifold that is actually more efficient than other options, but at well over $1000 it’s an investment and still not the proper choice for small framed turbos.
 
Budget lots of money for one get a fp manifold and call it a day 2g manifold or waste money when that thing cracks.

thanks for the response, I’m going to grab a stock one off of rock auto and port it myself. I actually had no idea that the tubular ones could decrease performance with the 14b
