Broke one of the bolts in my lower control arm that goes up into the frame. I also broke a huge extractor into the bolt I broke:cry:. Drilling into the extractor is impossible.

Now what?

IF you have an Oxy/Acetlyne torch you may be able to heat the extractor and crystalize it then chip it out with a blunt nose center punch and a BFH (Big Freakin Hammer)

Its time consuming and a total PITA.

Was it a good extractor (snap on, Mac) or a parts store one? If it was a parts store you may be able to get a Carbide drill bit and a slow speed HI torque drill and work through it.

The neighbor kids should learn some new words whenever you're trying to remove a broken bolt.

Welding a nut is a good idea if you can because the heat may help with breaking it loose.

For the broken extractor- welding a bolt to it is nice....if you have a welder, another option that is a PITA but works, is to use very small carbide bits, slightly larger than dental bits and take metal away around the extractor until you can get at it and turn it out with vise-grips or tap it with a punch or chisel until it loosens up.

I had a bolt break in my subframe and when it was all said and done I had to drill the hole out completely and install a bolt throught the subframe because I had so much rust, there was no metal to save after the original bolt broke. Goodluck
