Broken clutch bolt

Hey guys, have a quick question. I'm doing a clutch job on my 1990 gs turbo. I found one of the clutch bolts broken off in the block with no part of it sticking out. What would be some recommendations of getting it out? Just drill it out and re-tap the hole? Just looking for some ideas. Thanks guys for the help!!

No clutch bolts go to the block. You mean transmission bolts? Extraction will be necessary and if youre careful no other work needs to be done.

Or do you mean the bolts holding the flywheel to the crank OR the bolts holding the clutch to the flywheel?

Crap, my bad! Yea, clutch to flywheel, not block.

An easy out might work. Those bolts are kinda small though

If your not sure/comfortable taking care of this, why not have whoever is resurfacing the flywheel take care of it for you?

You have to take it to machine shop anyway. Have them extract it. All else fails get another flywheel.
There is not 1g or 2g flywheel. There are 6 bolt and 7 bolt. Of those two there are FWD and AWD so that is four possibilities. Buy whichever is appropriate if you go that route.
My 2 cents. I am not a fan of lightened flywheels. Might be fine on a racetrack but I don't care for their behavior on a street car. Street cars slow down, stop, idle etc. Driveability in traffic suffers in my opinion. Take that for what its worth.

I had to do that once i used a drill and easy out then used a new bolt to put in it. Holds up just fine. Just be careful when you do it take your time .

Simple extraction. Use a center punch first then a small drill bit. Then an extraction bit. I had to do this on 2 bolts for a fiadanza flywheel.

Use a left hand drill instead of the normal right hand drills & it will be easier (& you might not end up not needing an easy out).

Likewise for me. I assume you noticed the "left hand" reference in the manufacturer's description too. People are left & right handed. Threads & tools are left or right hand.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I ended up getting it out, used some heat and an easy out. I would have had the machine shop just do it, but I'm strapped on cash and only had enough to get the flywheel resurfaced. I've just never even messed with removing broken bolts before, really wasn't all that bad, just had to keep a steady hand. Thanks guys!
