Um...car sat for months. Should be done soon, but where do I post the questions for getting it back up and running properly? I already have a plan, just questions.

So. My plan after hooking everything back up is this. I'm going to buy the cheapest oil I can find. Then fill the entire engine, also separetly put some amount of oil directly into each cyliner to let oil slide between wall and pistons(I'll wait maybe a hour or two for the oil to get in between) but since I'm going to hand crank, I was thinking of over filling with oil so absolutely everything gets oiled. Then hand crank for awhile since hand cranking won't give the oil pump enough pressure to move oil where it needs to go. After hand cranking for what will feel like forever, drain, then fill with expensive oil to the correct limit, and then try starting the car. How's that sound. This is my first time ever refilling a disassembled engine. Took cylinder head off. For valve repair back in November.

Sounds like you should follow peoper break in procedure, you want a non detergent oil or break in oil, cranking by hand won't do anything.. I hope you used assembly lube when you assembled. But basically normally i would crank the car with the mpi fuze out, a few times to get the oil where it should by pressure and then put the fuze back in and follow the procedure. It's documented on this site i wouod not over fill the engine. Or put oil down the cyl. Your oil squirters will lube the walls.

Edit: if you had it runing in november and only did head work all you gotta do is prime the system with the mpi fuze out, put it back in and start it. Do it with what ever oil you plan to use when it's running. Last mine was running was october 2013 and thats all i did after fillin with fresh valvoline 20w50

I was told that having it drained of oil for awhile would lead to moisture inside the engine so I was worried. Lol
