Did a couple wot pulls today on the way home from work popped the hood and my breather sprayed oil everywhere. Is this common? What should I do to fix this problem?:hmm:

This is the one i'm talking about not pvc one. I should put a oil catch can on this one to? I have the 420a engine btw.

It is called the PCV system that we are referring to. That includes the pcv valve and breather set up for the valve cover.

If you review the link I posted you can see that there should be a catchcan between that breather and the turbo intake (I would definitely give it a read even though you have a 420a):

Your pcv may be bad. Its used for vaccum to suck out bad air in the motor. It blocks pressure from going into your motor/ head compartment. Thats why your having oil fly out from your breather.

Punctuation and proper grammar will help people to better understand you.
I don't quite understand what you are asking. Do you mean you intake pipe for the turbo does not have a hose fitting for a catchcan set up? You don't need to run two catchans, some just run one between the valve cover and turbo intake pipe.

I follow a catch can set up that best suites you needs. Is you car a daily driver? Is it a race only vehicle? How often do you plan on changing you oil?

If you read the link about proper pcv system and catchcan, you would know that each set up caters toward a different need.

Since mine is a daily driver, I have it set up as the "improved stock" version. That is what is best suited for me.

He's got a 420A, thus no turbo. Although the information is still accurate, but maybe refer to the pipe as the air intake and not the turbo intake.

OP - you need to replace that filter with a catch can if you want to keep (most of) the oil out of your intake. Then you run a hose from the valve cover to the catch can, and another hose from the catch can to the intake.

Two catch cans is preferred but it is also possible to run both the breather and PCV to the inlet of the catch can, and run the vacuum source at the intake pipe. No need for a check valve as it doesn't see boost and both are exposed to vacuum.

I am interested. Checked your gallery, but no pics of your pvc dual catch-can setup. I need to make one.

I would check his profile, it states "99 Eclipse N/T (w/turbo)", please review this info before hand.

They are both in this picture. I will highlight them for you. There is also an unseen check valve before the vaccuum block

I gave you all the resources you need to determine what set up you need, plus I asked several questions to try and help you along to your answer, that were never answered. I guess i will just spoon feed you the info now.....

If it is a daily driver, I would use the improved stock set up.
Port on valve cover, to catcahcan inlet, catchan outlet to turbo intake. Since you dont have fitting for a hose on your turbo intake pipe, I would have one welded on, or a bung welded, or drill and tap then use a fitting that mated with the tapped hole.

There is a reason that Mitsu did not vent breathers into the atmosphere. Run a proper setup. I learned that the hardway.

I hear buying the crankscraper from Ishihara-Johnson with the baffles help out to. Since the 420a doesnt have one to begin with.

I have this problem BAD!!! When I get into about 10lbs. of boost it vents horribly out of the valve cover port. Whenever I park after a real hard ride i feel like the engine is just dripping with oil that comes straight from the vc port. The hood is also, covered on the underside
