I've been out of the loop for a long time, and i'm foreign by choice to GM MAF's. What is this guy doing, tuning the GM MAS with the AFC? What's the point? I would switch over to a Blaha 1g MAF but I was just curious about this, looks like a tuning trainwreck. Anyone else do this?

BTW, any other criticism/advise on this possible new purchase lemme know. Yes it's pricey, but perhaps justified being it's recently rebuilt with new internal goodies, and shep tranny.:dsm:

Ok to run the gm maf you need the maf-t. The older version of the maf-t is not that good and ive heard it can be hard to tune. The newer version is just as good as a safc and its not needed from what ive read.

The blaha 1g maf is junk. It lets it read a little more but not worth it. If you goals are to stay under 500whp I would go with a stock 2g maf. All you need is a little a/f correction and they work great. People have ran over 500 on the 2g maf.

You have been out of the loop for a while, huh? Blaha went down the tubes when people found that the 2g mas was a bolt on when an afc is used. It was proven to flow more than the Blaha with a whole lot less tuning. Then came the gm maf and maf translator. Perfect tuning device which is a direct plug and play but will flow more air than both 1g and 2g mas combined, has limited tuning capabilities, ans allows the user to set up in blow through application which aids in spool times and allows venting of the bov with no ill effects. The down side is that you are going to confuse all the newbies talking about the Blaha 1g mas since it was before most of their time. It has become outdated and obsolete so please, no "what is a Blaha mas and will it help me".

Am I missing the answer somewhere? Why an AFC if he's got a Maf-t? I had a friend with the GM and it was never tuned right.

I had a Blaha in my old GSX and it worked great. I haven't seen proof a 2g flows any better so until then I am gonna stick with what I know. Who knows, I may stick with the current setup. But like I said, i've been out of commision for a while, and my previous car never went past the 14b. If there's a legitimate reason to go with a 2g or even stick with the GM, beyond venting to atmosphere, please enlighten me.

I'm just excited of the thought to possibly have another DSM. I know I know, i'll probably look back at that statement and shoot myself in the head.:D

The afc isnt needed with the maft, it is just easier to tune with. Most people mount the maft under the hood and zero out all adjustments. Then the afc is used to tune with. In most cases, the maft is used only to power the gm maf, not so much for tuning.

Ok, awesome. Thank you sir. Hope the GM Maf is as easy to tune in as the Blaha. I just tinker with it for a couple days. Would you say fuel cut is completely resolved with it? I'll probably eventually try my luck with dsmlink, because 650's seem they may be a little restraining with a 50trim, and i've heard anything over 650's with an AFC is too much.

I only ran the 190 pump with my old 14b GSX, no need for a fpr, so that will be a new experience too. God I hope I don't screw this thing up if i get it.:coy:
