Brake Chirp

For a while now my brakes have made a chirping or squeaking noise. I believe it is the front driver's side making the noise.

I have replaced pads all around: Wagner TQ in the front and Duralast in the rear. Yesterday I got the front rotors turned, but it still sounds like the chirping coming from the driver's front.

Also, after I reinstalled the brake pads and rotors it was completely quiet. It didn't start chirping again until on my way to work. Also, while I'm driving it sounds like the brakes are making contact.

1) Are the anti-squeel clips and plates in place?

2)Sometimes slightly beveling (with grinder) the leading pad edge helps.

3) Does the caliper "float" properly? It should freely slide back and forth on it's pins (so it adjusts to any pad thickness and will apply equal pressure to both pads upon braking). Slide caliper off pins, clean pins and grease them, reinstall.

4) Or your piston may be partially stuck. On LF only, remove caliper and pads and place piece of wood in between piston and caliper fingers to let the piston extend out but not come out all the way. Now press brake pedal a few times and make sure piston comes out and compresses wood. It's important to never let piston come all the way out when pedal is pressed (thus the wood piece)! Now rotate piston 180* being careful to not scratch piston sides [you can grab outer edge of piston that does not go into cylinder (ie. part that touches pad) with pliers]. Then press piston back in using brake caliper tool. Reinstall pads and caliper. You may also want to do this on RF too (since you are pressing brake pedal note you can only do one wheel at a time).

5) Place 100 grit sandpaper flat on a table and place the pad down on it and sand any ridges or glaze off by pressing the pad down on the sandpaper.

Those anti-rattle clips are in place, but I'll double check to make sure they're not running against the rotor.

I'm really betting on the piston or caliper getting stuck. I'll inspect and test it par your instructions and regrease the caliper pins.

X2 on the anti rattle clips. Have you checked maybe the dust plate got bent and is rubbing the rotor on the inside or edge of rotor?
