BoV

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Keep yours and do the Dodge Garage mod to it. Get some hard piping for the intake and intercooler piping along with a MAF translator and vent to ATM. Other than that, sell your car.

just stick with the stock bov. no sense in going for sound over performance. if you wanted that, just dont recirculate it, get a 3 in. gm maf and translator...and good luck tuning it

since (almost) everyone is just going to bash the poor guy on his first post than offer any real help...

OP, There is no cheap way to go about this really. You can buy an HKS bov or NGR bov with recirculation fittings and it will still be very loud, but you will also need a flange for the BOV. You are looking at 2-300 bucks either way.

You can get hard upper intercooler pipes and a hard intake pipe and take the box off from around your filter and it will be slightly louder, but I'm guessing not loud enough for your taste.

The other way is to do what a couple others said and get a GM maf + maf t and then on top of that buy any bov you want along with the correct flange. That will be more than a few hundred bucks unless you can find awesome deals on "used" parts.

Bottom line. Stick with what you have until you have enough money, at which point you will almost certainly realize spending multiple hundreds of dollars for just a little sound is pretty ridiculous.

But whatever you do, DO NOT take the recirculation tube off your bov unless you have a maf t + GM maf. If you just take it off, your car is going to run like crap (most likely), and you will be causing more problems and waste even more of your money.

wow, and people give me shit for looking at an aftermarket front bumper? when shit like this is going on?!?!

opinions, sell your car before you #### it up so much that you decide to sell it anyway, then someone like me buys it and has to fix everything.

but i guess when you're rolling around with guys who put ugly ass red rims on a blue car, we know your destiny with any car you buy.

I wasn;t spamming. I offered him a real solution to his predicament that would not mess up his car. And it would be louder.

I had a huge rant typed up but decided to be nice today. Vent to atmosphere. You'll lose half a second of performance by bypassing the MAF Sensor everytime you shift. But you'll gain a cool lil "whooosh" sound. I almost forgot what a troublesome pile of junk the MAF Sensor is. Glad I don't have one :)

I still don't get how it messes up your car. I was venting to atmosphere for a year n a half till I finally found a stock recirc tube to replace the corroded one my car came with. I never noticed any issues. In fact the car was a fast lil trick. :)

I'd like to argue wastegate dump tubes! Entire time your on Max Boost your bypassing the O2 Sensor! DA Frak!

your car is going to run like crap (most likely)

I love this quote! HAHAHAHAHA.

Wow... People like this is why my car has this silly bumper on it

I had the same bumper you have LOL :p listen quit the flame maybe he wants to keep his car stock but sound good . I have a greddy type s i recirc and i uncirc sometimes it sounds great ,but my advice because they are typicaly expensive get an NGR type s bov sounds the same just holds more pressure

Searching through the billions of threads on this site, you can see where people's cars had troubles and ran richer. Many of the threads have logs as well (or did when I was looking at them nearly 2 years ago. Who knows if the image links are still valid and haven't been deleted by the poster). My "quote" isn't mine, it is one i took from many other threads and logs.

Can I see your dsmlink logs saying your untuned car runs exactly like stock with a unrecirculated bov? I would like to compare them to others for my own reference and learning.

I have a pretty much stock 93 Talon TSI. I am looking to upgrade the Bov, I am going for sound more than performance.
Right, because the 1G factory BOV is both poor-performing and horrible-sounding.

Any suggestions?
How about....
  • Worry about performance more than what your BOV sounds like.
  • Do the appropriate modifications that will allow you to run more boost. That will make any blow off valve louder.
  • Do not vent any blow off valve to atmosphere unless you have the appropriate metering system or want to murder the car's performance.

My honest opinion... SSQV Recirc! I think that sound is just evil! Gets my juices flowing! :)

This would be my choice as well if the OP absolutely has to have a loud BOV. Very distinguished sound and very loud when recirculated.

I have a few 1g bovs, one original HKS bov, a NGR bov, and a P.R. bov all for sale. PM me if interested. :)

Turn up boost/get gm maf and trans/ put Tial BOV on and make whippin and woooshin sounds..... at least with this people will start thinking your trying and stop giving you S***!!!! And he has to be half way smart to have boughtin a turbo model and no a N/A then came on here and asked how to make it COOL!!! anyways filter out the haters and everyone else gave good info and price ranges.

Hks, greddy, or tial are good choices but can be pricey. If it was me I would keep the 1g stock bov but its up to you.
