bov problems...i think???

about two days ago i was droppin my buddy off and on the way home the car felt really suggish. when i stepped on it a little i got to about 2k and the turbo started sputtering like crazy. i hav absolutely no acceleration and thats and understatement. the sound it makes sounds like the boost is going almost straight thru the bov into the recirc tube. instead of hearing the turbo spool up you hear a constant pssshhhhh and its coming from the bov. its a 1g bov on a 2g eclipse. stock boost.

Take the hose off, and turn your car on. See if its shooting air our of the BOV. If it is, replace it. 1g BOV's are pretty cheap.

There isn't going to be any air "shooting out of" the BOV if the car is sitting there idling. If anything, it will be sucking air in since you are under vacuum at idle.

To the OP... although it very well could be your BOV leaking under boost (or vacuum), it's really hard to tell without doing a proper boost leak test. You aren't going to "spool the turbo" and build any boost (at least not more than a couple of PSI) without driving down the road and putting a load on the motor...at which point I highly doubt you can hear exactly where it's leaking from.

You may very well have a few leaks. Do a proper boost leak test and fix all of them.
